Growing up a freckly red-head in the endless summer of seventies Australia, Dylan never felt he belonged. Avoiding the infinite ginger themed taunts from the solace of the shade, he became more accustomed to observing the playground, than being part of it.
Being comfortable with being uncomfortable, prepared him for a financially precarious yet creatively rewarding career in advertising, where he was able to observe people for a living. Amongst the band of misfits, savants and otherwise unemployable outsiders ever wary of popular thinking, he found his tribe. In highly decorated creative departments from the UK to New Zealand and Australia, Dylan discovered people with a unique way of squinting at the world. Through whatever prism of burgers, cars, beers, travel or insurance they looked, you could always glimpse humanity. In this humanity, you would find a connection.
After creating hundreds of television commercials, Dylan developed his expertise in brand storytelling, while crafting his skills as a filmmaker, shadowing some of the finest craftspeople in the world. As a director he combines his love of ideas, storytelling and craftsmanship, always in pursuit of those precious moments of humanity. You’ll know him on set, he’s the ginger kid in the shade, watching and trying to work out what makes us all tick.
